About Me

Jack O'Leary in Cessna 152 cockpit

Hello! My name is John O’Leary, although everyone calls me Jack.

I’m a Gold Seal CFI, AOPA Distinguished Flight Instructor, and former Apple Program Manager who left tech to teach flying full-time. I love this work and I’m excited to help you achieve your aviation goals.

I started my training at WVFC (KSQL/KPAO) and finished my private in the Midwest (KHYR). After spending some time flying for fun, I earned my instrument (KPAO), commercial (KPAO), CFI (KSGS), and CFI-I (KMHR). I deliberately sought out diverse flying experiences in hopes of being a well-rounded instructor. I’ve flown tailwheel, glider, helicopter, gyroplane, high performance, and complex aircraft in environments ranging from coastal to mountainous to rural flatlands. I’ve also worked with new instructors and tried new aircraft and equipment whenever I could.

During the pandemic, I hosted a weekly Microsoft Flight Simulator live stream. Simulators make flying more accessible, and I use them as both a training tool and for social and educational events.

Finally, I love the way aviation, both online and in person, brings people together. I try to stay active and help keep these communities vibrant.

I look forward to being part of your aviation journey!
